Pippi
2024
Lambskin, fiberglass, cowhide, brass. 19in x 15in x 8in.
Drawing on the artist’s Swedish heritage, Pippi is a highly playful reimagining of the children’s literary character, Pippi Longstocking. Clad in black lambskin, cowhide braids and polished brass attachment points, she embodies the physicality of the BDSM experience, while the closed brass zipper speaks tacitly of the inherent tension between a strong female character and the assumption of the submissive. Pippi is the sequel sculpture to Zippy (2020) which was exhibited at SEAF, Seattle WA in 2020.
